GreenCycle started in 2024 as a course project (SDP-II). In 2025 it became a paper at IEEE QPAIN, a conference on quantum photonics, AI and networking. The full title is "AI-Enhanced Application for Incentivizing Waste Recycling: A Step towards Sustainable Environment".
What the app does
Point your camera at an object and a TensorFlow and YOLOv8 model tells you whether it's recyclable, which category it belongs to and where to dispose of it. Gemini adds contextual tips and guidance. To keep people coming back, there are rewards for recycling, leaderboards, and a vendor marketplace that connects recyclers with collectors.
